Revit 2026 is Here: Top Workflow Enhancements & Game-Changing New Tools

The release of Autodesk Revit 2026 brings a suite of intelligent updates designed to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and offer greater flexibility for design professionals. With a continued focus on performance, documentation, and customization, Revit 2026 is a leap forward for architects, engineers, and BIM experts.

Let’s explore the most notable features and improvements shaping this latest release:

1. Toposolid Gets Smarter and More Versatile

Introduced in Revit 2024, Toposolid has undergone powerful upgrades in 2026 that significantly enhance site development and landscape modeling.

🔹 1.1 Sub-Division Enhancements

  • Now supports negative values, making it easy to model recessed elements like roads.
  • Recognized as a separate sub-category, offering enhanced customization.
Assign toposolid types (not just materials) directly from the Properties palette.

🔹 1.2 Sub-Division Scheduling

You can now schedule sub-divisions—list all elements like roads within a project for improved documentation and data control.

🔹 1.3 Seamless Toposurface Conversion

Revit now automatically converts Toposurfaces to Toposolids with subregions as recessed sub-divisions, reducing manual effort.

🔹 1.4 Copy/Paste for Slab Points and Lines

  • Before: No copy/paste functionality for modifying toposolids, roofs, or floors.
  • Now: You can copy and paste both points and lines for easier edits.

🔹 1.5 Other General Improvements

  • Cut-Fill Volume Accuracy: More reliable data for excavation and fill calculations.
  • Topography Cut Void Stability: Better success rates when cutting toposolids.
Improved Civil 3D Link Accuracy: Enhanced fidelity when linking terrain from Civil 3D.

2. Duplicate Layers in Compound Assemblies

A small but powerful new feature: Duplicate layers in the Edit Assembly dialog for walls, floors, roofs, and ceilings. One click saves multiple steps, accelerating type creation and design iteration.

3. Custom Layer Priority Control

You can now customize layer priorities in compound structures using a new Priority column, offering precise control over how layers join and how they appear graphically.

4. Compound Structures Without Core Layers

No core? No problem. Revit 2026 allows compound elements without a core layer, which simplifies the creation of custom wall types with more predictable join behavior and visibility.

5. Tabbed Project Browser

Say goodbye to the endless scroll. The new Tabbed Project Browser separates element types into tabs for cleaner organization.

  • The All tab preserves the classic view.
  • Only shows links, groups, or assemblies if they exist.
Cleaner, smarter, and easier to manage large projects.

6. In-Canvas Spell Check

No more typos in your text notes! Revit now includes real-time spell-checking. Right-click on underlined words for quick corrections or to add to your custom dictionary.

7. Custom Scale Text on Title Blocks

A new Scale Override parameter lets you input custom text in the title block where scales are shown—ideal for sheets with multiple view scales.

8. Arrays and Parametric Family Flexibility

Parametric content just got easier. Revit now supports 0 and 1 value arrays in families. This means:

  • You can toggle components on or off without using complex formulas.
  • Reduces the number of family types needed.
  • Ideal for options like an optional mullion in a window family.

9. Create Walls by Room or Segment

Finish walls just got easier.

  • Room-Based Wall Creation: Automatically place walls along room perimeters.
  • Segment Tool: Click on any line to generate walls quickly.
  • Use the Tab key to include/exclude elements like columns.

10. Manage Imported CAD Like a Pro

Finally! Revit 2026 includes imported CAD files in the Manage Links menu:

  • View all imported DWG, DXF, DGN, SKP, and AXM files (SAT and 3DM still excluded).
  • Quickly identify total count and instances—essential for model hygiene.
  • The Manage Links tool has also moved to a more intuitive location on the toolbar.
